Marcus Peter Tesch’s plays often explore unusual community designs from the past and present, and one focus of his work is revealing queer history and stories. Based on the real-life case of a conversion therapy carried out in the rooms of a convent in Graz in 2023, his new text turns a fictional convent into a stage for the dramatic exploration of the Christian concept of "mercy": who deserves our compassion, who receives structural help as a matter of course? Why are we hard-hearted towards people - or even hostile? And when does compassion turn into desire?
